More Beaded Beads and Things

Yes, I am still making beaded beads.

In the following pics, I am playing with the herringbone stitch with different beads to see the effect.
The larger bead uses a size 6/0; the silver one uses a size 11/0; and, the smaller one uses a short cylinder bead (not sure of the size, as something that I had on hand) with a size 15/0 on the ends.

This green 6/0 seed bead uses a circular peyote stitch.

Using 6 mm pearls and size 6/0 black seed beads, with 11/0 seed beads for the bail, I was able to construct this circular pendant.

Starting a with rectangular cubic right angle weave (CRAW) using 6/0 seed beads, I formed it into a bow with the 6/0 beads in the middle.  I then used 11/0 seed beads to embellish the piece.

Was wondering how many different ways I could change angles in CRAW.  I changed angles five time and the result is the piece below.  Again, the base is 6/0 seed beads (in a silver metallic color).  Then, I used 6/0 seed beads in a glass green and matted green to embellish the piece.

Although the piece below looks like CRAW, it is really two flat RAW pieces that were then weaved together to form the pendant.  I used 6 mm pearls, with 6/0 silver glass beads to embellish it.

The piece below is another work in CRAW using 6 mm pearls and 11/0 silver seed beads to embellish.

Again, curiosity got the best of me.  Wanted to know if I could "weave" a  little basket with 6/0 silver metallic beads.  Did two pieces in CRAW and then RAWed them together.  Also, did a flat RAW piece to "weave" to the back.  What do you think?

I really hope you are enjoying my journey into bead weaving.  Leave me a comment to know what you think or if you would like to see any other techniques.

Finished Circular Peyote Necklace

On 6/9/16, I posted a picture of a circular peyote rope that I was doing.  At that time, I was not sure what it was going to be - my thoughts, at that time, were a bracelet.

Well, below is a picture of that rope beginning that was made into a necklace.

I thought it would be interesting to change up the rope --- so, I changed to some 6/0 black seed beads.  When I was done with the black seed beads, I thought something was missing.  I then embellished the black beads with an 11/0 lavender seed bead to coordinate with the lavender side.

I think it turned out rather nice.

Here is a close up of the two sides of the rope.

Leave me any questions or comments.  Hope you enjoyed.

It's an Earring Thing

On 6/2/16, I posted a pair of earrings using the brick stitch that I recently learned.  Well, below is another pair of those earrings using orange and silver beads.  This technique uses bugle beads and size 11/0 beads.

In the next three pairs of earrings, I am back to cubic right angle weave (CRAW) using 6/0, 8/0, and 11/0 seed beads.

It is my hope that my journey in learning new bead weaving stitches will encourage you to try or continue doing bead weaving.

Have fun, and enjoy the journey!!!!

Learning a New Stitch in Beadweaving

I have been teaching myself the Chenille stitch; which is a combination of the ladder stitch and herringbone stitch.

This stitch comes together rather fast and is very easy to learn.  These eight are just some of the beads I have made using this stitch.

Hopefully, in the next week or so, I will start putting all of the beaded beads I have made into pieces.  That's if I can stop making them!!!!

I have plans to also post a video, showing this stitch in action.  It really is a fun stitch.

Leave me any thoughts.

Bead Stringing

Even though I love bead weaving, I also love to just string.  Here are a few of the items I've made.

These bracelets are black and gold circular wraps.

I really appreciate your coming by to see my work.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Making Beads - Day 8

Another pair of beaded beads.  This time I used the twin beads.  Will also make some in the white twin beads a little later.

Random Beading

Just doing some random beading - allowing the mind to run free.

Here, I made a couple of samples, just playing with different beads.  Will they ever end up as a piece? - who knows.  Maybe down the road.

My thoughts on this purple piece ran amok.  I was trying my hand at a beaded rope using a circular peyote stitch.  I am thinking - bracelet, with embellishments.  As you can see, it is still a work in progress - the needle and thread are still attached.

This cubic right-angle weave piece is serving as my sample.  I did cubic right-angle weave using gold 8/0.  I then embellished it with 8 different colors of 11/0 beads.  There are 4 colors on each end.  This will serve as my inspiration piece in the future.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into my mind when I am beading.  Not everything becomes "finished".  Sometimes it is just doodling and letting my mind roam free.

Thanks for stopping...bye!!

Making Beads - Day 7

This one proved to be interesting.  It uses 11/0 and 8/0 beads weaved around an 8 mm pearl.

Let's Make Pendants - Day 6

Okay, so I really, really got carried away.  The black and white and two green pendants were made in a rectangle.  The two diamonds at the bottom were weaved together at the points, and I just used different beads for different textures and looks with the other pieces.

Making Beads - Day 6

These beads were made in 11/0, 6/0, and 8/0 in a circular peyote.

Let's Make a Pendant - Day 5

It was fun making the small squares, but I thought I would see how larger squares would turn out.  I used round beads and 11/0 in a cubic right-angle weave.  The blue one is plain, while the pink was embellished with gold 11/0 beads.

I tend to like the larger squares.

Making Beads - Day 5

I tried a "squared" peyote stitch in this 11/0 bead.

Let's Make Pendants - Day 4

Okay, so I got a little carried away.  Using right-angle weave and round beads on the first two, I made closed pendants with matching earrings.  On the last pic, I make an open pendant.

Making Beads - Day 4

This time, I tried something different.  The two bottom beaded beads are right-angle weave in a circle using pearls, crystals, and 11/0 beads.  The standing blue one is using blue and white 11/0 in a cubic right-angle weave.

Let's Make Pendants - Day 3

This was a fun one!!!!  Used pearls and crystals in a circular cubic right-angle weave.

Making Beads - Day 3

Some more peyote tubular beads using different size 11/0.

Making Beads - Day 2

Here are three beaded beads using tubular peyote again, in an 11/0.

Let's Make Pendants - Day 2

A little different pendant using black and gold 11/0 seed beads in a cubic right-angle weave.

Update on Garden

Here are some pics of what was going on in my garden at the end of May 2016.

The pears are getting larger.

One of the tomato bushes.

The cucumbers are vining and flowering, but no produce yet.

Two or three squashes coming along.

Have already picked a few blueberries, and more are coming along.

Have already picked two bell peppers and more are coming.

Off the vine!!!

Grape vine is leafing out, but don't think we'll see any grapes this year (cut off last year's wood at the end of last season).
Will just have to use the leaves to make some meat dishes.

My cantaloupe is struggling.  Will need to research this.

My basil always shows up and shows out.

I love the taste of this chocolate mint in my prepared foods.

Like the basil, the lemon thyme always produces beautifully.

Mt figs are trying to make a comeback this year.
Hope you enjoyed the stroll through my garden.
